Here is a light meal you can buy at the supermarket when you’re feeling a bit hungry.
It’s “ISHII’S MEATBALL”. These are meatballs in tomato sauce. Even without a microwave in your hotel room, you can enjoy them as they are without heating. And best of all, they are without the use of any food additives.
Take a look at these ingredients. They’re very simple. As I mentioned in the “BUTTER STATE’S COOKIE” article, I believe that simple ingredients make the most delicious food. Additionally, to enhance the natural flavors of the ingredients, they are particular about the sourcing of the chicken, tomatoes, onions, and other produce.
”ISHII’S MEATBALL” is often used as a side dish in Japanese bento lunches. At least when I was a child, they were often included in my bento. Now, I also pack them in my child’s bento.
This is one day’s bento from our home. That morning, my daughter suddenly wanted to take a bento to the park, so I quickly packed together what I had in the refrigerator. As a result, it looks a bit sparse and lacks color, but… My daughter loves “ISHII’S MEATBALL”, she was very happy with it.
Nutritional information is as detailed below.
I bought it in pharmacy near my house. I got it for 267 yen at there. (The price is as of September 2024) You can find it at any supermarkets, and convenience stores, too. In Japan, snacks are often cheaper at farmacy than at supermarkets.
I think there are many things you’d like to eat at Japanese restaurants. However, since “ISHII’S MEAT BALL” is not too large, it shouldn’t interfere with your appetite. Definitely give it a try!
