There are many confectionery companies in Japan, but one of my favorites is Bourbon. No matter what confectionery you try from Broubon, you can’t go wrong.
One of Broubon’s representative confections is “LUMONDE”. It is a cookie made with very thin layers of crepe dough, with cocoa cream spread on top. It has a crispy (=in Japanese, sakusaku), light texture and a very delicate flavor. It released in 1974 and it is said that the person in charge of development at the time was thinking about the idea of a new product, and it came up with a unique shape when the paper was crumpled.
My mom also loves Broubon, and I remember her buying dozens of their products when they were on sale. Naturally, I ate those many confections without ever getting bored.
Ingredients and nutrition label is as detailed below.
I bought it in pharmacy near my house. I got it for 204 yen at there. (The price is as of September 2024) You can find it at any supermarket, too. In Japan, snacks are often cheaper at farmacy than at supermarkets or convenience stores.
You can get “LUMONDE” from here !
There is also a slightly more premium version.
